Village Spring Clean on 16th March

Thank you to all the volunteers who turned out on Sunday 16th March to take part in the Village Spring Clean – nearly 30 people in total !!!. All your efforts are very much appreciated and a lot of good work was achieved including:

  • Fixing a lot of smaller potholes – around the village green, in Upton and in Cheriton
  • Clearing a blocked drain under the road from Haskins Cross to Upton Cross
  • Clearing lots of debris from the bottom of the wall opposite the village green (to prevent it blocking drains and causing flooding lower down the road)
  • Stabilising the wooden posts around the village green
  • Cleaning the Payhembury Stone
  • Cleaning the War Memorial and tidying the surrounding area
  • Clearing the edges around Waterloo Plot
  • Repainting of the slide and junior swings in playground
  • Clearing brambles and debris from around the tennis court and at the back of the playing fields
  • Litter picking

Many thanks also to the Six Bells Inn for the lovely bacon rolls and hot drinks before the work started.

Roadworks – April, May & June 2025

The following roadworks are scheduled for the coming months:

27th May – 31st May: Road from Payhembury Cross to Markers Park: Western Power will be laying a new mains cable to remove pole mounted transformer and move substation onto new development – outside the Parish Hall. The road will probably be closed for this work.

18th June: Road from Shoots Barn to Feniton: Road closure for BT to do pole renewal and tree cutting. It is unclear how much of the day the road will be closed for.

19th June: Road through Lower Cheriton: Road closure required for the safety of BT engineers to carry out telegraph pole renewal works. It is unclear how much of the day the road will be closed for.
