Village Spring Clean – Sunday 16th March

The Parish Council are organising a “Village Spring Clean” for the morning of Sunday 16th March, starting at 9.30am. The Six Bells Inn have very kindly offered to provide hot drinks and bacon butties (and suitable alternatives) at the start, to everyone taking part. If you would like to volunteer to be part of the event, please can you let the Parish Council know (clerk@payhembury-pc.gov.uk) so they can advise The Six Bells of likely numbers.

What areas of the parish do you feel need a spring clean? Are there any things you feel need improving or fixing? The Parish Council would like to hear your suggestions.

Ideas the Parish Council have so far include repairing the wooden posts around the village green, clearing debris from around the base of the wall opposite the village green, fixing village signposts at Haskins Cross and Colestocks, clearing ditches, fixing potholes, etc. If there are a lot of areas needing attention then another event may be organised for a few months’ time.

Please let the Parish Council know if you want to volunteer and your suggestions for areas to be included in the “Village Spring Clean”.

Priority Services Register for vulnerable customers of utility companies

What is the Priority Services Register?

The Priority Services Register (PSR) is a free and voluntary system that helps utility companies (including energy suppliers, electricity, gas and water networks) to ensure the correct support is given to their most vulnerable customers. It helps them tailor their services to support households who need extra help, including with:

  • Priority in a power cut
  • Advanced notice of service interruption
  • Large-format or Braille bills
  • Quarterly meter readings.

Who is eligible for the Priority Services Register?

Generally, you (or a member of your household) could be eligible for the Priority Services Register if you or they:

  • need to be supported in a particular way
  • would struggle to maintain your well-being if you lost your energy supply for any amount of time
  • are of pensionable age
  • are disabled
  • are chronically ill or have a long-term medical condition
  • have hearing or visual impairment or other communication needs
  • have children under the age of five living with you
  • have a mental health condition that causes you difficulty in understanding your bill
  • cannot top up your prepayment meter due to injury
  • temporarily need extra support due to extenuating circumstances.

How to sign up to the Priority Services Register?

To sign up you should contact your energy supplier (the company you pay your bills to) and also ask your supplier to forward your details to your regional network companies including electricity, gas and water.
